Otitis media is one of the most common childhood infections. The most frequent causative agents are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophillus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis. Viruses play important role in the pathogenesis of otitis media.

Bird schistosome diversity in Iceland: molecular evidence
Sequencing of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of rDNA of bird schistosomes isolated from Icelandic snails and waterfowl revealed fivespecies/genotype of schistosomatids. All of these species/genotypes develop in Radix peregra, probably the only suitable intermediate host species in Iceland.
